Explore the Different Types of Love Shown in Wuthering Heights
Explore the different types of love shown in Wuthering Heights Pages 70 -75 The love shown in Wuthering Heights on pages 70-75 is not only those of morality love, but also love that aches, and both types are each, for a different man. The simpler of the two is that of which Catherine feels for Edgar. Having chosen to marry Edgar, through no other reason than it is moral option; Catherine feels no true love towards him. When conversing with Nelly, and questioned on just what it is that Catherine loves about him, it is apparent, that she struggles to find an emotionally invested response. The responses that she does return to Nellys question, consisting of the adjectives, ââ¬Ëhandsomeââ¬â¢, ââ¬Ëpleasantââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ërichââ¬â¢ all show that Catherine feels for Edgarââ¬â¢s appearance, which is also evidential later in the passage; ââ¬ËHe is young and rich now, and I have only to do with the present. ââ¬â¢ This further shows the reader that Catherineââ¬â¢s lov e for Edgar is far from reliable, nor worth losing Heathcliff over. Catherineââ¬â¢s fight between both her heart and her head causes her to feel that Nelly is taunting her and doesnââ¬â¢t understand the dilemma of her situation; ââ¬Ëbut if you will not mock at me, Iââ¬â¢ll explain it.. and further mentions that she can only give a small insight of how it is she feels; ââ¬ËI canââ¬â¢t do it distinctively. ââ¬â¢ The fact that Catherine feels quite apprehensive towards letting Nelly in on her ââ¬Ësecretââ¬â¢, a secret in which she and she alone feels ownership over, which fails to include Heathcliffââ¬â¢s feelings toward her, shows that this love, the love for Heathcliff, is much harder to explain, hence she can find no words to describe it, compared to that of her love with Edgar. She later goes on to explain how in a dream, she visions herself in heaven and how she ââ¬Ëbroke her heart with weeping to come back to earthâ⬠¦ ââ¬â¢ This could be con sidered a vision into the future, in which due her decision, the decision to marry Edgar, she would eventually be in heaven, but without Heathcliff. Yet again, reference to how she cannot describe that it is Heathcliff she cannot live in death or life without and how it is Heathcliff of which she feels the strongest love towards, is apparent.Further into the extract, Catherine finally is truthful to Nelly on how she truly feels, and how those feelings are towards Heathcliff. Yet, although she is honest, she stills refers back to how she should be moral, ââ¬ËIt would degrade me to marry Heathcliff; so he shall never know I love him. ââ¬â¢ How Catherine admits her love, although may not have been best said, the fact that she can say she loves Heathcliff, and with such emotion and sadness, shows that a truer love runs through their relationship, compared to that she has with Edgar. She later says that Heathcliff is more herself than what she is. This reference, of two people livin g like one, shows furthermore, that their love is stronger, and more possessive, a love in which two people cannot be themselves without the other. Heathcliffââ¬â¢s love for Catherine is briefly described by Nelly to Catherine, in which her honesty startles her. Enlightening Catherine to exactly what it is Heathcliff would lose; ââ¬Ëa friend and love, and all! ââ¬â¢ further distresses Catherine, in which she reveals her true reasons for marrying Edgar, which are to help Heathcliff.Although the plan, as Nelly describes as nonsense, would fail to ever work, the reason in which she has made the plan, in order to rescue Heathcliff from her brother, shows that theyââ¬â¢re love runs deeper still. The deepness in which in runs, in which she feels it is her duty to save Heathcliff from his perils rather than marry him as he is, shows how Catherine idioticness and young, foolish mind cannot comprehend how she should react to her feelings for Heathcliff. Pages 146 -149 In pages 14 6-149, it is made clear to us that Catherine, clearly ill, is sure to die, and requests that Heathcliff be by her side. This instantly shows that a dying person last wish, in some cases, would be to be near those they love dearly and truly, and in this case, Catherines is Heathcliff. His love for her is also apparent, ââ¬Ëhe bestowed more kisses than ever he gave in his life beforeââ¬â¢ through the amount of kisses sent upon her. His love through his actions for her as she lays dying, is also further insight as to how heââ¬â¢s felt about anyone else, as the amount of kisses he places upon her, are more than those for anyone else, and most likely, those that mean more. The use of ââ¬Ëearnestlyââ¬â¢ shows yet again, the possessiveness they share for each other and how one can surely not bare to see the other in weakness, not knowing that it is their love, that has made them weak towards each other. Even as Catherine continues to lie dying, she tortures Heathcliff by not r evealing her feelings truly to him, the feelings she holds so tightly for him, jokingly mentioning that him and Edgar ââ¬Ëhave broken her heart. ââ¬â¢ The quotation, possibly meaning that having chosen Edgar over Heathcliff, and Heathcliffââ¬â¢s departure, that he broke her heart, and by still choosingEdgar, he broke hers by not being able to love Heathcliff truthfully, yet it could also mean that by living with Heathcliff and by leaving him in her death, she will have lost him both to Edgar, and therefore her heart has been broken twice. Further reference to how the two loves cannot live by themselves, is that of when Heathcliff exclaims how he ââ¬Ëcould as soon forget her as his existence. ââ¬â¢ The continued reference of two hearts that can only live as one, constantly runs through their story, making their love the most powerful in the whole two-parted story.Catherine then goes on to admit that she cannot wish to be parted from Heathcliff once more. Referred to as ââ¬ËMrs Lintonââ¬â¢ during the scene yet again, shows how they have been parted in live, as the name ââ¬ËLintonââ¬â¢ is a constant reminder of how Catherine's blindness encouraged her to choose loyalty and morality, over true love. During Catherine's death, Heathcliff requests to know why she ââ¬Ëbetrayed her heartââ¬â¢ and why if ââ¬Ësheââ¬â¢d loved him, what right she had to leave himââ¬â¢.Catherineââ¬â¢s response to Heathcliff's begs for answers are that she is dying for her mistakes, and she believes that her death is due to her bad decisions made in life, that she is forced to live without Heathcliff in the most harshest of ways. The love between Heathcliff and Catherine is apparent from the beginning, and it is also clear that she doesnââ¬â¢t share the same love for Edgar as she does for Heathcliff. A love of which aches, and turns individuals mad in their own lives, is the strongest in the book and especially in these scenes. A love of morali ty compared to that of a possessive, true love, wins no prizes in a competition.

Edward Albee’s presentation of Nick and his role in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf
In ââ¬ËWhoââ¬â¢s afraid of Virginia Woolfââ¬â¢ by Edward Albee, a main character that is revealed in this play is Nick who plays an important role presented by Albee in different ways. The play which, ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢shows malicious humiliation and love and tenderness and bitternessââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ is set on the campus of a small, New England university. Nick is presented in part as an on-stage audience for George and Martha to act out their verbal banter. Moreover the character of nick is used as a compare and contrast to George. The audience sees nick as an image of youthful pride, unblemished, athletic whose very life is dedicated to eliminating the imperfections in human genes, but is himself revealed as flawed in the play. The young couple Nick and Honey are presented as ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢passive observers. They serve solely as the objects of manipulationââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢. George and Martha simply use the younger, less experienced couple to manoeuvre for advantage in their own bitter struggle. This is further shown in act two by George when he states, ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢Iââ¬â¢ll tell you what game weââ¬â¢ll play. Weââ¬â¢re done with humiliate the hostsâ⬠¦ how about a little game of get the guests?â⬠George attempts to regain power which is an ongoing theme in the play by humiliating nick and honey. He uses what nick told him about honeyââ¬â¢s hysterical pregnancy against them.Could Cold War Have Been Avoided? Secondly, Nickââ¬â¢s role as a compare and contrast to George is important as both of them possess certain traits that the other lacks and envies. While George is frustrated with his life and the illusions that Martha and he have made, Nick contrastingly is yet to rise in his conquest for power. Throughout the entire play, George and nick proceed through an ongoing verbal battle, competing for the position of high standing power. George attacks nickââ¬â¢s profession because he is afraid of artificially changing the way that people are supposed to turn out, ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢ I've been drawing you out on this stuff, not because I'm interested in your terrible lifehood, but only because you represent a direct and pertinent threat to my lifehoood George openly admits that he's intimidated by Nick's youthful potential, and that he's seeking a way to undermine it. The audience seeââ¬â¢s nick as an ideal man, coldly ambitious, good-looking and athletic who represents the idea of technological advancement. According to Martha he depicts, ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢the perfect paragon of beauty and achievementââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢. But as George and Martha ruthlessly involve them in their verbal battles, Albee reveals many flaws in nick in particular. It becomes revealed that the marriage of Nick and Honey is less than perfect and has serious problems. The appearance of a perfect marriage between Nick and Honey is shattered by Nick's admission that they got married because she was pregnant as stated by Nick, ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢ I married her because she was pregnant. [â⬠¦] It was a hysterical pregnancy. She blew up, and then she went downââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢. Additionally Nick, the perfect model of a new faculty member, is rather easily seduced by Martha, ââ¬Å"Thatââ¬â¢s right, lunkhead; answer the doorâ⬠¦or are you too drunk to do that, too? Canââ¬â¢t get the latch up, either? Since nick failed to perform in the bedroom, he has lost all status in his relationship with Martha. This also makes one doubt the love in his marriage to honey. In whoââ¬â¢s afraid of Virginia Woolf by Edward Albee, nick is a very important character presented by Albee. Not only is he presented in part as an on-stage audience for George and Martha, he also exposes the falseness of ââ¬Å"The American Dreamââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ through his relationship with honey. As the perfect image of Nick and Honey crumbles, the final idealization of marriage and family also collapses. Edward Albee suggests that people in America are living in an illusion to which they hold on dearly to avoid facing the reality of a perfect marriage, children, wealth, success, education and religion, All of which compromise the American dream and hence Albee attacks and mocks this idea in the play which is revealed by the main characters to the audience.

Martin Luther King, Just and Unjust Essay - 1052 Words
Justice in the Eyes of Martin Luther King What is law? Law is a system of rules used to govern a society and control the behaviors of its members. In this case, Martin Luther King is charged for breaking a law. King questions the differences between just and unjust laws to justify his actions in Birmingham and the charges of breaking laws willingly. Defending his willingness to break laws, King argues, ââ¬Å"How can you advocate breaking laws and obeying other?â⬠He answers to accusation of his willingness to break laws with a well-written argument of what is just and unjust laws. Martin Luther King uses the definition, the categories, and the implication of the law excellently to answer the charges of breaking laws willingly. Kingâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦To further support his analysis of the law, King states a third definition of ââ¬Å"an unjust law is a code inflicted upon a minority which that minority had no part in enacting or creating because they did not have the unhampered right to voteâ⬠(PAR 14). This definition is given to show that there are unjust laws occurring. This implies that the white people are devaluing democracy and what it stands for. He states after that, clearly, Negroes are not allowed to vote in the state of Alabama regardless if they are the minority or not. He is stating that it is unjust for Negroes not to be able to vote. Although these statements do not directly answer the charges of the clergymen, King is building up to that answer. While defining the laws, King is focusing on what he believe is wrong and its relationship with unjust laws. King uses this technique to support breaking unjust laws to obey just laws. Defending his willingness to break laws, King argues, ââ¬Å"How can you advocate breaking laws and obeying othersâ⬠(PAR 11)? King uses the strategy of answering a question with a question. King was arrested for parading without a permit in Birmingham, AL. The ordinance used against King was deemed unjust because it denies citizens the First-Amendment. The Great Athenian Tragedian Euripides - 1631 Words
Chaos and disorder have been prevalent throughout all of human history, but from it has emerged a great deal of order and truth. Societies have fallen to ashes, from the biblical Sodom and Gomorrah to the Holy Roman Empire. After their immense reigns and chaotic ends, we have extracted inestimable lessons and truths. Disorder has the potency to align and place things in order once it has rattled through a period. In Greeceââ¬â¢s history, several prominent figures have captured this theme in their writings, like the great Athenian tragedian Euripides. In Euripidesââ¬â¢ Greek tragedy Medea, one of the pervasive themes is order out of chaos. Medea turns on her direct family for the salvation of her future husband and betrays her homeland. She perceives her repayment as being replaced in the bed of her husband with the Corinthian kingââ¬â¢s daughter, along with being exiled from Corinth. Medea becomes an embodiment of chaos, as she is overtaken by furious hatred and passion for revenge against civic and familial order. In this paper, I will argue the chaos that ensues after Medea and her husband Jasonââ¬â¢s disastrous breakup unintentionally reveals a moral order. Medeaââ¬â¢s decisively drawn plan of revenge establishes the value of loyalty, as she punishes those responsible for her betrayal, and strongly establishes a womanââ¬â¢s role in a patriarchal society. Medeaââ¬â¢s chaotic acts draws attention to the truth of marital values and establishes these values even before the chaos has calmed. National Journal Of Hospitality Management ââ¬Myassignmenthelp.Com
Question: Discuss About The National Journal Of Hospitality Management? Answer: Introducation Effective help desk or service desk management is a fundamental part of providing good customer service and maintaining a good customer relationship. With this as a reason, there are serious necessities of bettering the performance provided by help desks or service desks and their proper management. It would assist managers in acquiring unified internal and external performance benefits. The idea is of taking small steps towards improving service in place of simply commencing from the start and then largely investing in the dynamic method. Though, associations with consumers face problems at the time of taking small steps, as that makes the organization become more determined on the incorporation and change rather than on the eventual advantage - providing of customers with the best customer service and having the best form of relationship with them (Lucio-Nieto et al. 2012). Two most efficient aspects of a good help desk or service management are discussed below: Auditing of existing practices Before taking responsibility of any form of improvement undertakings, there is the necessity of inspecting what is already being carried out within the business that are associated with the provision of support inside the sections of help desk or service desk, clients and other departments of the organization. Characteristically, it might occur that there exists already some teams and departments that are taking up the responsibility of activities that are similar to this and there are probabilities that some of the major practices are already situated in place within the organization that can be further progressed and accepted elsewhere (Jntti, Cater-Steel Shrestha, 2012). Like for example, inside any software company and their internal IT support, principles of IT infrastructure library (ITIL) are already adopted, extracting form which the customer care team could benefit in a straightforward manner from the ITIL method for incidents, issues, release and change management in varie d areas like tracking product improvement, implementing and tracking those new products in the market for the customers (Tang Todo, 2013). Audits of the service level management by dint of service establishment that is offered by the help desk or the service desk and aligning of the IT provisions carefully with the broader needs of the business would also support. Consideration of self service solutions Self service solutions are considered by many as being the best solution if they are properly used inside the organization. They contain the capability of being tremendously profitable. The even present the profits of presenting functioning out-of-hours coverage that allows any concern the opportunity of being in attention for being measured to be handled on a precedence basis the consequent day. In many situations, the knowledge bases could be recovered by the end user for resolving their own issues. Looking from the standpoint of help desk or service desk management, these forms of coverage could be evidenced as being tremendously cost-effective, symptomatically taking away one third of the calls in the direction of the first line help desk or service desk particularly in areas such as call updates and status checking. This situation has a definite and straight influence on recruitment and staffing levels, discharging workforces in more creative areas within concern resolution. In terms of this discussion, at a lower level, self-service can act as being the most effective solution. It is extremely vital that situational risks like when the end users self-administer tremendously technical resolutions are avoided (Kokkinou Cranage, 2013). Violence on Screen Encourages Violence in Real Life free essay sample
People do not kill to imperialize, they kill simply for the fun of it, some even for no apparent reason. This can be proven through the recent mass bombing in Boston, USA, and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut. Researchers have decided to come to the bottom of this problem, and one of it is due to media influence. There are a few reasons supporting this statement, and also reasons going against it. Superhero movies have always been the publicââ¬â¢s favorite. It is undeniably true that almost everyone enjoy watching movies based on superheroes, regardless of age. Still, heroes are violent, and they get rewarded for their violent behavior after defeating their enemies. Children viewers who still do not have a mind of their own, who are still following the idea of ââ¬Å"monkey see, monkey doâ⬠, will then be indirectly exposed to violence. In this modern era, gaming is said to be one of the main sources of entertainment to most people. Contrary to that, studies show that people who play violent games handle stress better than most people. Violent gaming is proven to be one of the greatest way of releasing anger and stress, as you an let your imaginations run free by imagining your targets to be your real life enemy. However, this also brings a long-term impact. Gamers who have spent almost their entire lives venting out their stress through violent games such as Left 4 Dead and Call of Duty will eventually have violence planted into their systems. They are so used to violent exposure th at it is almost like their nature to be violent in real life. It is said that if you are violent enough to kill in the virtual world, you are also likely to be violent enough to kill in reality. Nevertheless, there are also reasons that go against the above statement. One of it is that all the violence on screen desensitizes our awareness to it so much that it does not change our nature of being non-violent. Studies in America reveal that the typical American citizen will view more than 200,000 acts of violence even before they reach the age of 18. If everyoneââ¬â¢s minds were so easily influenced by the media, then everyone is a murderer. Many people enjoy watching violent movies, but their own conscience and their ability to distinguish between right and wrong tells them that violence is wrong. The question of whether or not violence on screen encourages violence in real has been an on-going debate ever since media was introduced in peopleââ¬â¢s lives. Nonetheless, violence itself can be prevented if the media cuts down the acts of violence on screen. Small acts to prevent children from exposing themselves to violence are for parents to include child protection settings in their televisions, and to ensure that their video games are not violent-based. As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure. Every parent should do their part to prevent any form of violent media affecting their childrenââ¬â¢s lives before it is too late.
